Our Staff

Editorial Board: Fall 2021 – Spring 2022

EDITOR-IN-CHIEF: Malek Allari is a sophomore from Saudi Arabia. He is an English major with a concentration in Creative Writing, who speaks both English and Arabic! In his free time, he is either reading, traveling, or playing in the men’s rugby team.
MANAGING EDITOR: Morgan Roberto, from Enfield, CT, is an English major with concentrations in both Creative Writing and Literary Studies. In addition to being the managing editor, they are a member of the Creative Writing Club on campus. In the future, Morgan hopes to continue their education at graduate school. They would like to become an English professor, as well as write novels.

ADVERTISING MANAGER: Joyce Figueroa is a senior who was born in Puerto Rico. She can speak Spanish and Italian, and enjoys painting!
NEWS EDITOR: Johana, or Jojo, Vazquez is a senior at Eastern Communication major with minors in Writing and Latin American & Caribbean Studies. She aspires to become a investigative journalist. In her free time when she’s not stressing about school and life, Jojo loves to travel, laugh at memes with her boyfriend, and learn how to play the ukulele. 
ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT EDITOR: Rebecca May Ristow is a junior from Amston, CT majoring in Theatre with double concentrations in Acting and Directing, Dramaturgy, and Cultural Performance. She also minors in Costume Design! Along with writing for The Campus Lantern, Rebecca is the secretary/treasurer of Drama Society and an active member of Film and Media Club. Rebecca hopes to pursue graduate school and become a theatre professor.
OPINION EDITOR: Aicha Ly, from South Windsor, is a Political Science major minoring in Modern Languages. She is interested in international relations, astrophysics, food and writing. Aicha is also the Community Service Representative for FEMALES and the president of the Human Rights Club!
SPORTS EDITOR:  Joseph (Joey) Paige is from Avon, CT. He is a Communication major with a concentration in media writing & journalism ! He additionally holds a minor in film studies. He’s interested in sports writing and hopes to find a career in sports journalism in the future.

Staff Writers


Our staff writers are dedicated club members who regularly write articles for The Campus Lantern and attend our weekly club meetings on Mondays at 4pm via Teams. Contributing Writers


Contributing Writers are any students who submit articles without attending club meetings! Any student at Eastern is free to submit articles to the Campus Lantern. Please email anything you write to the appropriate editor at any time. You too can be a published writer!
